What is Traveller’s Diarrhoea?

Any country other than that in which you normally live, can have different varieties of bacteria present in water and food, to which you have no naturally developed immunity.

  • Following the ingestion of contaminated food or water, Travellers' Diarrhoea is characterised by fever, belly cramps and profuse watery diarrhoea lasting for several days that often leads to dehydration.
  • Infection with Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) is the most common cause of TD.

Travellers’ Diarrhoea can really ruin the enjoyment of your holiday or the effectiveness of a business trip. The devastating loss of your valuable time, money and memories can be disasterous.

Over 50% of people travelling to developing countries may experience Travellers' Diarrhoea, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
